Okay, so I’ve had this yarn for a while that’s basically just a bunch of pom-poms strung together. I originally got it because I thought it’d make for a really plush, comfy bathmat, and earlier this week I decided I might as well get started on it.
This yarn isn’t the easiest to crochet in. The pom-poms kind of get in the way and it can be hard to see the actual shape of your stitches. After a few false starts, I decided to take a page from Tamara over at the Moogly blog. She has a pattern for this yarn where she’s basically crocheting into a non-slip rug pad. Her rug was done in a circle and I wanted a rectangle, but I figured it’d be an easy enough concept to adapt, so I went out, got a mat, and got started.
It’s still not super easy, but it is significantly easier than just trying to straight up crochet with the yarn was. Plus, the finished part is just so plush, I feel like it’s definitely going to be worth it in the end. Of course, it’s also going to take a few more skeins than I initially envisioned for the project, so it’s not going to be the quickest piece in the world either. Still, I’m excited for the finished product.
